Dunsfold Park Appeals Planning Decision
04 November 2008
Dunsfold Park Ltd has today announced its intention to appeal against Waverley Borough Council’s decision to refuse their masterplan application for the aerodrome in Dunsfold, nr Guildford, Surrey.
Following 6 years of research, consultation and liaison with the local community and Waverley about the site’s future, Dunsfold Park Ltd is confident that their plans offer the best alternative for the aerodrome’s future.
Jim McAllister, Chief Executive, Dunsfold Park Ltd comments:
“We were disappointed, but not surprised, by Waverley’s decision to refuse the masterplan application for Dunsfold Park. We have decided to appeal the Council’s decision, which we believe is wrong and not in the community’s interest, and our efforts will now be focused on the appeal process. Our priority is to demonstrate why our proposals are right for the site and the borough of Waverley and to push forward with providing the local area with a new environmentally sound village. Our plan not only removes the existing aviation uses but, critically, addresses the acute shortage of housing in the area, particularly affordable housing, and creates an exemplar for sustainable and green development in the UK.”
It is unlikely that a decision will made on the masterplan for Dunsfold Park before autumn/winter 2009.
