DUNSFOLD PARK CHIEF EXECUTIVE COMMENTS ON APPEAL DECISION
30 September 2009

Commenting on the Secretary of State’s decision to refuse permission for an eco village at Dunsfold Aerodrome,  Jim McAllister, Chief Executive of Dunsfold Park Ltd said, “The decision by the Secretary of State to refuse the Master Plan proposals for a new Eco village at Dunsfold Aerodrome is both disappointing and confusing and places question marks over the Government’s commitment to Climate Change. To refuse planning consent for the most environmentally responsible large scale eco-development proposed to date in Europe – far superior and more advanced than any of their own anticipated eco-towns - must surely put an end to the whole Eco-town agenda.

Dunsfold Park Statement on Eco-Towns Announcement
3 April 2008

Dunsfold Park Limited is naturally disappointed not to have been selected in this initial list of Eco-Towns. Whilst the reason is unknown, DPL have always been aware that their proposals for 2600 dwellings were below the size threshold set by the Government for Eco-Towns. DPL nevertheless believe that, in spite of the site having physical capacity to accommodate the government’s minimum numbers, 2600 homes alongside 2000 jobs is an appropriate scale of mixed use development for the villages surrounding Dunsfold and in particular Cranleigh.

DPL will examine the shortlisted schemes to assess whether they include any facets which will help to improve the Master Plan. However, this decision does not affect the overall plans for Dunsfold Park and a planning application will be submitted to Waverley Borough Council this week

6 November 2007

Exciting plans to bring sustainable homes and jobs to Surrey were today revealed when Dunsfold Park Ltd announced it is bidding to become the UK’s first Eco-Town.

The plans submitted to the Government last week include the development of 2,600 new homes, 2,000 on site jobs, a new Primary School and primary health care, community sports and recreation facilities and a museum of the area’s aeronautical heritage. But what makes the Dunsfold Park project so interesting is the range of ground-breaking initiatives that showcase the UK at the forefront of meeting the climate change challenge.
